Brooklyn Heights Kitchen 1:
Brooklyn, New York
A spacious working kitchen and family room was created from a series of cramped spaces in this ground floor apartment. The clients, avid cooks and hosts, retained Martin Brandwein Architect to make this new space the center of their home.
A large island for preparing food and informal dining is the central focus of the space. To hide existing gas risers at one end of the island, MBA created a paneled column. Natural cherry cabinets were proportioned to increase the sense of verticality and counterbalance the horizontal nature of the room. An alluring blue tiled niche helps visually anchor the range within the surrounding cabinetry.
