145 Hicks Street: Brooklyn, New York
A spacious working kitchen and family room were created from a series of cramped spaces that made up this ground floor apartment. The clients, avid cooks and hosts, retained Martin Brandwein Architect to make this new space the center of their home.
A large island for preparing food and grabbing a quick meal became the focus of the space. To hide existing gas risers at one end of the island, MBA created a paneled column. Natural cherry cabinetry proportioned to create a sense of verticality and counterbalance the room. A handsome blue-tiled niche helped visually anchor the range within its surrounding cabinets.
